Tallieu signs on with Port Huron Prowlers

Brian Tallieu is the third Lawrence player to sign a professional contract after the season.
APPLETON, Wis. -- Make it a trifecta for the Lawrence University men's hockey program.
Brian Tallieu became the third Lawrence hockey player to ink a professional hockey contract when he signed with the Port Huron Prowlers of the Federal Prospects Hockey League. A goaltender from Davison, Mich., Tallieu joins Lawrence teammate Zack Olen, who signed with Port Huron more than a week ago. Forward Zach Lodes was the first Lawrence player to sign after the season when he joined the Macon Mayhem of the Southern Professional Hockey League two weeks ago.
"Brian is the true definition of a pro with the way he approaches the game and prepares himself daily," Lawrence coach Brett Wall said. "He is a player that gets the big picture, and he was a huge asset for us this season. In my time with Brian I have seen him win games between the pipes, mentor younger goalies and players, and he always someone who I could count on to be great in our community."
Tallieu is coming off a season that saw him post an .895 save percentage and 3.71 goals against average. He posted a season-best 41 saves on Feb. 11 at Trine University. Tallieu was outstanding down the stretch as he lowered his GAA by 0.76 over the final five games and posted a .932 save percentage in that stretch.
A Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week in the 2019-20 season, Tallieu posted a 3.81 GAA and .897 save percentage for his career. He recorded a career-best 52 saves in a victory over nationally-ranked Aurora University in December 2021 and finished with a 3.56 GAA and .903 save percentage that season.
Tallieu had his best season numbers in the 2020-21 campaign with a 3.47 GAA and .904 save percentage.
"Brian will be missed tremendously for his leadership and commitment to the LU hockey program, but we know he will be a great LU hockey alum and continue to carry the torch for others to follow in the future," Wall said.
Tallieu becomes the 20th Lawrence hockey player to sign a professional contract since defenseman Josh Peterson became the first to do it in 2008.
This marks the second time in school history that three Vikings have signed pro deals in the same year. Ben DiMarco, Matt Hughes and Jameson Raymond all inked pro contracts following the 2011-12 season.
